Most girls that come to House of Hope are facing academic struggles that compound other emotional and family issues they are wrestling with. At House of Hope, we’re dedicated to getting teens back on track to provide them the best opportunity at obtaining a promising future through our Residential Program and onsite school, Hope Academy. When Kiyla came to House of Hope, she was a struggling student who felt inadequate at school, unable to meet expectations. This frustration made her hate school and develop a negative attitude toward it. As she lost hope in her ability to succeed, her grades began to slip. Between the struggles at school and the issues at home, Kiyla’s parents decided to seek help from House of Hope in April 2017. At Hope Academy, Kiyla has had the opportunity to thrive and make huge strides towards getting back on track. She came in with a 1.13 GPA and now has a 3.21!
“Miss Sheri is a great teacher. She knows when I can do something even when I get frustrated and I don’t think I can do it. She pushes me to do my best and give it my all. I never had a teacher that pushed me before. The classroom is a lot smaller so I get more one-onone time. I can focus better so I am able to get good grades now.” -Kiyla
